Bobby Breen

Bobby (Bob) Breen is the founder and Chairman of Breen Capital, bringing decades of entrepreneurial creativity and common sense tenacity born of his first experiences in business in Ireland. With a strong focus on senior management and a reputation for execution he has built a global network of limited partners, delivering flagship real estate in the UK, US, and Europe, focusing on affordable housing, and establishing long-term partnerships with national stakeholders in low- and middle-income countries, developing milestone renewable energy and waste projects and introducing diagnostic and therapeutic medical technologies to frontier markets. A life-long supporter of often Irish NGOs, Bobby founded Darach as a platform to deliver long tern improvements in quality of life to less fortunate communities globally through both tried and tested humanitarian programs and innovative market based models and cutting edge technologies.

Alex Hay

Alexander Hay, MA (Hons.), MSc. (Finance), brings to the company nearly 30 years experience of finance, structuring and project management. Prior to joining Breen Capital he had a number of roles in RBS Corporate Banking and Financial Markets structuring lending to a broad range of Corporate and Real Estate clients. He subsequently lead a joint venture setting up and managing a leveraged $250M European real estate portfolio. He gained his first degree in Philosophy at the University of St. Andrews, was subsequently awarded an MSci (Finance).

Ray Jordan

Ray Jordan is the Director of International Network at Penny Appeal, bringing over 30 years of international development experience in over 50 countries. He previously served as CEO of Gorta Group for 16 years, focusing on eradicating hunger and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa and leading humanitarian relief programs in conflict and disaster regions. Ray holds a Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Trinity College Dublin and a first-class honours degree in Construction Management from Waterford Institute of Technology.

Steve Winston

Steven J. Winston, Independent Senior Technical Advisor since 1999, has nearly 40 years of expertise in diverse fields, serving major corporations, academic institutions, and US federal agencies. With clients including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, General Atomics, the Idaho National Laboratory, US Department of Energy, Texas A&M University, University of Chicago etc. he's spearheaded projects in power plants, refineries, and nuclear processes. Notably, he managed the $5BN Idaho National Laboratory's integration under Lockheed Martin and has given expert testimony before various US Congress Oversight Committees. His extensive career includes leadership roles at Parsons Engineering and Westinghouse Electric Corporation, overseeing projects like uranium remediation and nuclear fuel reprocessing. Winston holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Nuclear Engineering and has authored graduate-level textbooks on industrial ethanol production.


Kathryn Llewellyn

Kathryn Llewellyn, with over 20 years in international development, now serves as Managing Director at Keep A Child Alive, utilising her expertise in strategy, carbon trading, mergers, and safeguarding. She concurrently works as a Consultant at Thrivefor, focusing on similar areas. Kathryn is a Board Advisor to the Waitrose Foundation and Co-founder of Positive Women, where she seeks to empower communities globally. driving initiatives to tackle poverty, promote gender equality, and improve access to clean water. With extensive experience, including leadership roles at United Purpose and Pump Aid, she holds an MscEcon in International Development Management from Swansea University and a BA Hons in History from the University of Reading.


Laurence Gill

Professor Laurence Gill, Chair of Environmental Engineering at Trinity College Dublin, has over 30 years of experience specialising in the fate and transport of pollutants and passive treatment processes. His research combines extensive field studies with mathematical modelling to understand environmental processes and he has 225 peer reviewed publications with nearly 5,000 citations and has been awarded over 30 research grants. Before joining Trinity College in 1999, he worked in the UK water industry, focusing on water and wastewater treatment design for urban areas. He was made a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin (2013), and awarded the Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Award (2011) and the Institution of Civil Engineers prize from Lancaster University (1990).


Sheena Tranter

Dr. Sheena Tranter, Consultant and upper GI surgeon with the Oesophago- gastric Surgery Team at the NHS University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and Weston NHS Foundation Trust has over 30 years of surgical and teaching experience. She is the endoscopy training lead and a published author in the Journal of Laparoendoscopic & Advanced Surgical Techniques and Videoscopy and has worked around the world delivering essential surgical and therapeutic care to the victims of conflict, natural disaster and those without access to basic medical facilities.


Enda Keane

Enda Keane has over 30 years of experience in the forestry industry, with key roles including CEO of Treemetrics, a leader in forest measurement and monitoring technology, and Co-Founder and Director of Sales & Marketing at 3D Eagleview International Ltd. At Treemetrics, Enda has led the development of an innovative global forest monitoring platform, supported by the European Space Agency. He also served as a Forestry Advisor at Teagasc and Regional Forest Manager at Green Belt Ltd. Enda's expertise spans forest management, sustainability, and carbon estimation. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Forest management from University College Dublin, and is commited to driving innovation and sustainability within the forestry industry to combat climate change.


Mike Ryan

Michael C. Ryan, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, brings almost four decades of experience to his role, including over 25 years in the U.S. Air Force and 10 years in Senior Executive service at various U.S. missions including NATO. Throughout his career, he flew the A-10 Thunderbolt II, served as a National Defense Fellow, and graduated from the French War College in Paris. Mr. Ryan's diverse roles include Country Director for Russia, Military Advisor to the Secretary of Defense's Representative to Europe, and Defense Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to the EU. With expertise in defense cooperation and international relations, he also served as Director of Interagency Partnering and Joint Interagency Counter-Trafficking Center. A member of the Growth and Strategic Advisory Team at Vectrus, Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Soviet Studies from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University.


James Benedict

James Benedict is the Co-Founder of Left Tackle Capital, a pioneering accelerator for female and minority-led venture capital and private equity funds. James is also a partner at Kidd & Company, a family office investing in U.S. private equity. James brings 25+ years of experience in venture capital and private equity; he has been a family office investor, human capital partner, and entrepreneur. He has consulted for the World Bank and the Japanese Ministry of Finance. He serves on the board of directors of Young Audiences and Fyodor Biotechnologies and the advisory boards for Affinity Renters and Curing Women’s Cancer; James previously served on the multiple for profit and philanthropic boards including NextPhase Medical Devices, Colerain Family RV, MOGUL and Mission: Restore. James holds a Ph.D. in International Economics from Columbia University, a B.A. from Baylor University, and a Certificate on Monetary and Fiscal Policy from the Japanese Ministry of Finance. He co-authored "Rocka My Soul" about the 1981 Jack Yates (George Floyd’s alma mater) Lions football team.


Trish Scanlan

Dr. Trish Scanlan is the Secretary of the Board of Directors and CEO of TLM Tanzania, with over 17 years of experience in paediatric oncology. An Irish paediatric oncologist, she has lived and worked in Tanzania since 2006, where she co-founded Tumaini la Maisha (Their Lives Matter) and helped establish the national paediatric oncology service, providing free care across three centres. Dr. Scanlan also serves as the Interim Director of the Department of Global Health at Children's Health Ireland and has been the East African Programme Coordinator for the International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research. She holds key roles at Children's Health Ireland, Muhimbili National Hospital, and WeAreTLM.


Sheila O'Driscoll

Dame Sheila O’Driscoll, descendant of Driscoll’s, heads the Sheila B. Driscoll Foundation, advocating for women in film and television and supporting individuals with disabilities. Collaborating with Sundance and promoting food security in many arid regions, she has also developed eg. non-alcoholic beverage brands and other commercial ventures. As CEO of Dame Venturus (DV), she champions mentorship and purpose-driven business practices. O’Driscoll holds degrees in Hispanic Studies and TESOL from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, receiving a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. Her accolades include the Cafritz Teacher Fellowship Award and the UAE Lifetime Achievement Award in Business and Philanthropy. Notably, she's the first woman Chairwoman of the Nobel Sustainability Board and Trust, and co- founded the Billionaire Foundation as well as the Sheila B. Driscoll Foundation.


Jan Kielstein

Professor Jan Kielstein, Director of the Medical Clinic V | Nephrology and Hypertension at City Hospital Braunschweig since July 2015, has nearly 20 years of teaching experience. He studied Medicine from 1988-1995 at Otto-von- Guericke University Magdeburg, Pritzker Medical School, University of Chicago, and Tufts University and trained in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Hannover Medical School, becoming a board-certified Internist in 2004 and Nephrologist in 2006. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, he joined Hannover Medical School as Assistant Professor and later led the Critical Care Nephrology Division. Jan teaches courses in Internal Medicine and Vascular Pathobiology he has nearly 500 peer reviewed publications with over 15,000 citations. He is a section editor for Case Reports in Nephrology and Dialysis, on the editorial board of "Die Nephrologie," and serves on the Board of Trustees of the ISFA.


Danny Coyne

Dr. Danny Coyne, a leading figure in tropical agriculture, with over 30 years of experience specialising in plant nematology and soil health. As the team leader of BioInnovate Africa, he spearheads projects focused on developing novel biodegradable crop protection methods and other advancements in the field, emphasising pest management and sustainable crop protection solutions.. With extensive expertise in working with various tropical food crops, Coyne's career spans roles at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and affiliations with organisations like the Ministry of Agriculture in Tanzania and AfricaRice. He's recognised for his pivotal role in the nematology network, highlighted by his selection for the Organisation of Nematologists of Tropical America (ONTA) Special Award. Coyne's commitment to training is evident through his supervision of numerous MSc and PhD students and 71 peer reviewed publications with over 3,000 citations.


James Crowley

James Crowley is an independent advisor to the international development and humanitarian sector, focusing on strategic planning, organisational strengthening, and leadership. With 18 years of advisory experience following a 17-year tenure at Accenture, where he led the UK strategy practice and European M&A line, Crowley supports NGOs like Plan International and World Vision. He began his career in offshore engineering in the UK and Australia. Crowley holds a Civil Engineering degree from UCC, an MSc in Offshore Engineering (UCL), and an MBA from London Business School. He is also the author of "Building a Better International NGO" and "Navigating Change for International NGOs."


Michael Gormley

Michael Gormley, Professor of Public Health and Environmental Engineering at Heriot-Watt University brings over 24 years of experience and also serves as the Director of the Institute for Sustainable Building Design and the Water Academy. Specialising in fluid flow modelling, pressure transient analysis, and sanitation in developing countries, he has extensive tenure including roles as a Senior Lecturer, Director of Research, and Associate Lecturer at various institutions and has over 50 peer reviewed publications. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Engineering, an M.Phil. in Pressure Surge Suppression, and an MSc in Building Services Engineering, from Heriot-Watt University.


Benjamin Gatland

Benjamin Gatland is the Director of Social Sustainability at Heineken, the world’s most international brewer, a role he has held since June 2019. With over 14 years of experience in social sustainability and fair trade, Gatland previously served as Executive Director and Regional Manager for Partner Africa. He also worked for Fairtrade Africa in various managerial roles. Gatland's career began with volunteer work in South Sudan and includes extensive experience in standards and certification. He holds a degree in Development Studies, Politics, History, and Sociology from the University of Cape Town.


Michael Dobe

Dr. Michael Dobe, serving as Chief Digital Officer (CDO) for Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI) in Santiago, Chile, leads the university's digital transformation program. With over 30 years of IT leadership, he modernises IT operations, cybersecurity, and service delivery, fostering a modern, agile workplace. His initiatives include upgrading digital infrastructure and deploying new platforms like ERP and Data Lake, in collaboration with REUNA and global partners. Previously at Amazon Web Services (AWS), he managed digital modernisation for commercial and public sector clients. A military intelligence officer during the US-Soviet Cold War, his career evolved into senior IT roles worldwide, including a presidency at a Dubai liberal arts college. Dr. Dobe holds a BA, MA, and Ph.D., with accolades for his contributions to IT leadership and digital innovation.


Eoghan O'Sulliebhan

Eoghan O'Suilleabhain is an International Development Consultant specialising in WASH, Shelter, and Resilience, with 28 years of professional experience, including 20 years in challenging environments in developing countries. A project manager (BE Civil), water, sanitation, and hygiene consultant (MSc), and overseas development advisor (DRR Dip.), he possesses strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Eoghan excels in programme design, securing funding, project management training, and capacity building and has provided technical support and completed the delivery of large projects globally on time and within budget for international agencies in cluding ECHO, UNICEF and UN- Habitat). Eoghan has a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Galway, an MSc in Water and Waste Management from Loughborough University, and a Diploma in Disaster Risk Reduction from the International Training Centre in Turin.


Gerry Boyle

Professor Gerry Boyle was the Director of Teagasc, the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority, leading the organisation for 17 years since 2007. Teagasc, which focuses on research, advisory services, and education in agriculture, employs 1,260 staff, including 248 researchers and 253 Ph.D. students, and operates seven research centres and 51 advisory offices. During his tenure, he received numerous accolades, including the Academic Palm from the French government in 2017 and in 2018 he was elected President of Euragri, the EU network for public agri-food research and innovation organisations and also served as an ex-officio member of the Climate Change Advisory Council. Since leaving Teagasc, Gerry has provided strategic advice to organisations including the World Bank on agricultural and development policies in low and middle income countries.


George Psomas

George J. Psomas is a Senior Managing Director and Head of Originations at BHC Capital Partners, with over 30 years of experience in the asset-based lending industry. He also serves on the Advisor’s Investment Committee and is Managing Director - Debt Capital Markets at Brooks, Houghton & Company, Inc. Psomas has a long track record of sourcing and closing senior and junior secured loans in the middle market, with industry expertise in manufacturing, distribution, and retail. He previously held senior roles at Congress Financial, RBS Citizens Business Capital, AloStar Business Credit, and Ares Commercial Finance. He founded Maple Street Advisors, providing M&A and capital formation advisory services. Psomas holds a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the CFA designation.


Steve Collins

Dr. Steve Collins is the Director of Valid International and Chairman of Valid Nutrition, with over 30 years of experience in nutrition and public health. He pioneered the Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition, now a global standard endorsed by the UN, saving over 100,000 lives annually. Dr. Collins also founded Valid Nutrition, focusing on developing locally made nutritional products, including a sustainable, plant-based food for severe malnutrition. He holds an MD from the University of London, an MBE for his contributions to malnutrition protocols, and is a Senior Ashoka Fellow. Additionally, he manages Derry Duff Organics, an organic farm in Ireland. Dr. Collins has published extensively, with around 50 peer-reviewed articles cited approximately 2,000 times.


Paddy Maguinness

Paddy Maguinness is the Managing Director of Traidlinks, with 14 years in this role and over 40 years of experience in international development. Since 2011, he has also served as a board member of Haven. Paddy's expertise lies in European development policy, private sector engagement in international development, and ICT and development. He has been an advisor for the European External Policy Advisors for 16 years and previously held the position of Deputy CEO at Concern Worldwide for 27 years. Paddy holds an MBA from the University of Ulster, earned in 1994.
